
Prayagraj, 10 Oct (HS): An awareness program was organized
at Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital on Saturday to mark World Mental Health Day. The
program emphasized understanding mental health issues, seeking timely
treatment, and reducing the social stigma associated with them. Dr. Mohit Jain,
Vice Principal of Motilal Nehru Medical College, was the chief guest.
At the event, Dr. Abhishek Pratap Singh, Head of the Department of Psychiatry,
provided information about mental health issues and their treatment. He said
that if someone is experiencing a mental problem, they should consult a
specialist instead of hiding it or relying on superstition.
Dr. Mohit Jain expressed concern over the increasing mental health problems
among young people. He emphasized the importance of regular exercise, adopting
a healthy lifestyle, avoiding excessive social media use, and reducing screen
time.
Students from the Nursing College and Nursing School presented short plays on
drug addiction and postpartum mental health problems in women. Winners of the
poster, quiz, and skit competitions were honored with certificates and prizes.
The Department of Mental Health will launch a month-long awareness campaign
from October 10 to November 10. During this period, students in various schools
will be made aware of stress, stress management, and the mental health of
children and adolescents. Efforts will also be made to identify children
struggling with mental health problems and provide them with counseling and
support. Speeches, street plays, and other activities will also be organized in
the OPD premises.

Dr. Jitendra Shukla, Head of Neurology Department Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Sonkar, Dr.
Santosh Kumar Kesharwani, Dr. Anurag Verma, Dr. Shailendra Kumar Mishra,
Principal of Nursing College Prof. Shyam Sharma and Principal of Nursing School
Jaya Kumari Jaiswal along with doctors, residents and nursing officers.
