Mumbai, 10 October (H.S.): Filmmaker and director Karan Johar is reportedly preparing to bid farewell to his popular celebrity chat show Koffee with Karan after its ninth season. Johar himself had described the upcoming season on JioHotstar as the show’s final chapter. However, his departure from the world of celebrity chat shows may not be imminent. Reports suggest that he is working on a new format that will explore the lives of Bollywood stars, behind-the-scenes film anecdotes and intriguing stories from the entertainment industry.

According to reports, Johar intends to present his new show in a distinctly different style. Since the rights to the Koffee with Karan title reportedly rest with JioHotstar, he is said to be planning to launch the new programme under a different name and with a fresh identity. There is also speculation that he may initially release the show on YouTube before potentially selling its distribution rights to a major over-the-top (OTT) platform. With this move, Johar is reportedly looking to establish a stronger independent presence in the digital entertainment space.

Meanwhile, Johar’s immediate focus remains on Koffee with Karan 9. According to reports, Salman Khan completed the shooting for his episode on Thursday. There is speculation that the season could premiere with Khan’s episode. Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal are also expected to feature in the initial episodes. Additionally, Shah Rukh Khan and his son, Aryan Khan, may appear together on the show for the first time.

However, the reported guest line-up and episode details are yet to receive official confirmation.
