Kolkata, 08 January (H.S.):
The Trinamool Congress organized Martyrs' Day in Netai of the district on Wednesday. Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal assembly Suvendu Adhikari reacted sharply to this event late Wednesday night on the social media platform 'X'. He alleged that the Trinamool leaders present at the event had no knowledge of Netai's history and geography.
In his post, Suvendu Adhikari wrote that while the Trinamool Congress was celebrating Martyrs' Day, students in Netai were protesting at their school demanding teachers. He said that for a long time, the school has lacked teachers for several important subjects, including mathematics, English, and physics, which is severely affecting the students' education.
The Leader of the Opposition accused the state government of completely destroying the education system. He said that due to the lack of new appointments through the TET examination for years, students in rural areas who depend on the government education system are being deprived of education due to the shortage of teachers.
Suvendu Adhikari also dismissed the Trinamool leaders' repeated allegations blaming the court. He claimed that this is an attempt to hide the truth. According to him, the entire country now knows that job scams have occurred under Trinamool rule, and due to the appointment of ineligible teachers in exchange for money, the jobs of 26,000 teachers have been canceled by court order.
At the end of his post, Suvendu Adhikari praised the protest by the students of Netai. He said that he salutes this courageous movement and that the land of Netai has kept its tradition of protest alive even today. Suvendu Adhikari wrote, Netai is synonymous with protest.
Following this post by the Leader of the Opposition, the political debate regarding the state's education system and teacher appointments has intensified once again.
