Agnivesh Agarwal, aged 49, passed away on January 7, 2026, from a sudden cardiac arrest while recovering from a skiing accident at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York . Born on June 3, 1976, in Patna, Bihar, to a middle-class family, he rose to prominence as Chairman of Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd and Fujeirah Gold, alongside key roles at Hindustan Zinc—a Vedanta subsidiary—demonstrating compassion, purpose, and leadership.

His father, Anil Agarwal, called the loss the darkest day of his life, vowing to honor Agnivesh's vision for a self-reliant India by channeling over 75% of earnings back to society .
