Washington, 07 January (H.S.): President Donald Trump delivered a forceful address to House Republican lawmakers at their annual retreat, lauding recent achievements of his administration and describing the military operation in Venezuela as “brilliant” and “strategically outstanding.”
In a speech lasting nearly 90 minutes, Trump touched upon foreign policy, domestic politics, upcoming midterm elections, and healthcare reform, painting a picture of a successful presidency and urging unity within the Republican ranks.
Trump opened his address by asserting, “You win the presidency and we are running an extremely successful presidential term. What we are doing has never been done before.” He highlighted recent events, especially the Venezuela operation, as “remarkably successful.”
He specifically referenced the capture of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores in Caracas, calling the action “brilliant” and “strategically outstanding.” Trump claimed that no American lives were lost, while several on the opposing side were killed, and described Maduro as a “violent individual” responsible for the deaths of millions.
Tributes and Political Attacks
During his speech, Trump paid tribute to Congressman Doug LaMalfa, who recently passed away, remembering him as a “true protector of American children and society.” Trump also reiterated his long-standing claims that the 2020 US election was “fraudulent,” despite these assertions having been repeatedly dismissed by courts and election officials. He warned Republicans that if Democrats gained a majority in the House, he could face impeachment proceedings.
Trump urged Republican lawmakers to secure victory in the upcoming midterm elections, warning, “If we do not win the midterms, they will find some excuse to impeach me.” He also advised the party to adopt an aggressive stance on healthcare policy, advocating that funds for health expenses should go directly to the people, rather than to insurance companies.
Trump signaled that he would soon meet with American oil industry executives, stating that increased oil production would lower prices and further strengthen America’s energy sector. He emphasized that the Venezuela operation would pave the way for greater American energy dominance and stability.
