07 Jan (HS): A 45-year-old man's body was discovered in the Gomti River in the
Shukul Bazar region of this city, and police assume he was murdered,
authorities said Wednesday. The deceased, Ramesh Kumar Mallah, a native of
Khemmau Mallahan ka Purwa village, had left his house on Tuesday evening but
did not return till the next morning, causing his family to seek for him. Family
members and townspeople subsequently discovered a slipper, bloodstains, and
traces of bloodshed on the riverside near the village and reported it to the
authorities. When the police arrived, they rescued the corpse from the river
with the aid of locals.
Deputy
Superintendent of Police (Musafirkhana) Atul Kumar Singh stated that the corpse
has been submitted for post-mortem examination and that the circumstances look
suspicious and would be investigated. He stated that after receiving the
post-mortem report, further inquiry and action will be conducted.
