Gurugram, 06 January (H.S.): BMW Group India announced the 16th edition of the BMW Golf Cup on Tuesday, marking the much-anticipated comeback of India’s premier amateur golf tournament. Organizers describe this year’s event as the largest BMW Golf Cup to date, with over 2,200 amateur golfers from across the country expected to participate.

The BMW Golf Cup 2026 will be held on an even larger scale, with 19 qualifying competitions taking place across 13 major cities—Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Vadodara, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Patna, Kolkata, and Gurugram. These matches will be hosted at some of India’s most prestigious golf courses.

Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, said, “The BMW Golf Cup is not just a tournament, but a symbol of our commitment to sporting excellence, community engagement, and memorable experiences. In 2026, we are expanding the reach, strengthening grassroots participation, and enhancing the experience for players and guests. We are excited to welcome a new generation of golfers from across India.”

The tournament will also feature participation from leading brands such as Omega, Etihad, TaylorMade, Balentines, and HSBC, adding further prestige to the event.

The BMW Golf Cup is one of the world’s largest amateur golf tournament series. It began nearly 25 years ago as the BMW Invitation Tournament in Britain, operating independently for the first five years. It later expanded internationally and has now become a global series, with around 1,000 qualifying tournaments held annually in over 40 countries, involving close to 100,000 players.

The BMW Golf Cup 2026 will feature two categories:

Category A: Handicap up to 12

Category B: Handicap from 13 to 28

Winners from both categories will qualify for the National Final. The national champions from each category will represent India at the BMW Golf Cup World Final, where individual titles will be contested across three different categories.
