31 Jan (HS): According to authorities, a 50-year-old lady was fatally shot late
Friday amid a confrontation between two groups in a hamlet in the Babrala area
of district.
Superintendent
of Police Krishna Kumar stated that police received reports of stone-throwing
about 11.30 p.m. following a fight between two groups in Pehlawada village. During
the riots, Premvati, a ration trader, was shot and killed by a country-made
handgun. He confirmed that the body had been sent for a post-mortem
examination. A forensic team investigated the crime site and discovered two
empty cartridges and one live cartridge. He stated that the injured were sent
to a medical facility for assessment.
Teams
from the Special Operations Group (SOG), the surveillance unit, and the local
police station have been created to investigate the matter, and the accused
will be apprehended shortly, according to the officer. Police added that
preliminary investigations have uncovered a longtime antagonism between the two
groups. Meera Devi, the village leader, had Premvati as her mother-in-law.
