Guwahati, 31 January (HS): The 23rd edition of the Dhanvantari Seva Yatra, dedicated to public service and healthcare in the northeastern region, will be formally inaugurated on February 1 at 5:30 pm. The inaugural programme will be held at the Seva Bharati Tribal Students’ Hostel, Adingiri Kanakalata Path, Durga Sarovar, Maligaon.

According to officials of the organising committee, Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya will attend the event as the chief guest. Chairman of New Delhi-based Agarwal Packers and Movers, Ramesh Agarwal, will be present as the guest of honour, while Akhil Bharatiya Seva Pramukh of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Parag Abhyankar, will deliver the keynote address.

Launched in 2005, the Dhanvantari Seva Yatra has now entered its 23rd year. This year’s yatra will witness the participation of over 100 doctors and more than 175 medical students from different parts of the country and the northeastern region, who will provide healthcare services in rural and service-oriented areas.

The yatra is being jointly organised by Seva Bharati Purvanchal, the National Medicos Organisation, and the Ayurvedic Medical Organisation. Health awareness programmes and medical camps will be conducted simultaneously for five days across 52 districts in all seven northeastern states. Welcome committee chairman and Repoze Group head Anupam Deka, along with other members, are actively involved in ensuring the success of the service initiative.
