Birbhum, 19 January (H.S.): A video from Nanur in Birbhum district of West Bengal has exposed the growing ideological violence and political repression against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) in the state. The video, which went viral on social media on Monday morning, shows an RSS volunteer, Pintu Pal, being openly threatened at a Trinamool Congress office and forced to sever ties with the RSS.

Although Hindusthan Samachar does not verify the authenticity of this video, what is visible in the footage is a disgrace to democracy. In the video, the young man can be heard saying with folded hands in an atmosphere of fear that he will never join the RSS again. A voice from behind the camera asks, “Will you join RSS now in your life?” The frightened young man replies, “I will not join RSS in my life anymore.”

The matter doesn't end there. The young man is forced to publicly apologize in front of the crowd. Following this, a life-threatening threat is issued from behind the camera, “You are lucky that we let you go today. Otherwise, we would have handed you over to the people, and they would have torn you apart and eaten you.”

Serious allegations have been made regarding this entire incident, claiming that it all happened in the presence of the Trinamool Congress's zonal president and the chairman of the agriculture committee of the Nanur Panchayat Samiti, and that the young man was forced to distance himself from RSS under their pressure. The said leader is allegedly clearly visible in the video.

The statement of Trinamool Congress spokesperson Arup Chakraborty on this sensational matter is also considered to be adding fuel to the fire. He said, “We are not aware of any such incident. No one should be forced. However, not joining the RSS is a virtuous act.”

Political analysts said that this statement is not only irresponsible but also exposes a hateful mentality towards RSS. This video is being heavily criticized on social media, and internet users are raising serious questions on Birbhum district police.

However, the question remains: does an Indian citizen not even have the right to choose their own ideology? Has joining the RSS now become a crime in West Bengal? Threats, public humiliation, and death threats—all of this is a direct slap in the face of law and order.

The opposition has termed this incident political terrorism and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits, a forensic investigation of the video, and protection for the victim. This case is not just about one young man, but about the democratic right that is being crushed by a mob, seemingly with the protection of those in power.
