Bhubaneswar, 19 January (H.S.): Odisha has begun to experience mild relief from the prevailing cold wave, as minimum temperatures across the state have shown a noticeable rise, particularly during night hours. The gradual increase in mercury levels has led to a decline in winter intensity in several regions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the shift in weather conditions is being driven by active western disturbances affecting the region. These systems have pushed up nighttime temperatures and are expected to further reduce the severity of the cold in the coming days.
The IMD has forecast that minimum temperatures may fluctuate between 2°C and 4°C over the next four days. With two western disturbances currently active, moisture-laden winds are likely to flow into the state, contributing to the rising night temperatures and a continued easing of cold wave conditions.
Despite the warming trend, foggy weather is expected to persist in many districts. Light to moderate fog has been predicted for today and tomorrow in Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Kalahandi districts.
Weather officials have advised residents to exercise caution during early morning and late-night hours due to reduced visibility caused by fog.
