Guwahati, 19 January (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced an increase in the upper age limit for Assam Police recruitment by one year. As per the decision, the maximum age for police recruitment has been raised from 25 years to 26 years. CM was on facebook live.

The Chief Minister also informed that the ‘Swagat Satirth’ portal will be launched soon to facilitate transfer requests of employees recruited through the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE). In another major relief, he announced that differently-abled candidates will be given the opportunity of a second medical examination during the recruitment process, considering their long-standing demands.

Sarma further said that a dedicated portal for provincialisation will also be opened shortly to streamline the process. All the announcements were made during a Facebook Live address by the Chief Minister.

Speaking on Assam’s cultural recognition, Sarma said that the country has compared Assam’s Bagurumba dance with the grandeur and visual appeal showcased during the opening ceremony of the Olympics in China. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has played a significant role in taking the Bagurumba dance to the global stage, effectively acting as a brand ambassador for Assam’s cultural heritage.----------
