
Chennai, 16 January (H.S.) : Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi paid floral tributes to the statue of the legendary Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar on Friday. The ceremony took place at Lok Bhavan in Guindy to mark Thiruvalluvar Day, which is observed annually on January 16 to honor the immense contributions of the saint to Tamil literature and ethical philosophy.
The Governor highlighted the timeless nature of Thiruvalluvar's teachings, which continue to inspire people globally through the Tirukkural. Earlier in the day, Chief Minister MK Stalin and other prominent leaders also offered their respects to the poet, emphasizing his role as a foundational figure in Tamil culture.
The occasion saw tributes pouring in from national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. In his message, PM Modi described Thiruvalluvar as a versatile thinker whose ideals of a harmonious and compassionate society personify the best of Tamil heritage.
He urged the public to read the Tirukkural to gain insights into the outstanding intellect of the great philosopher. Mallikarjun Kharge also extended his warm greetings, referring to the poet as an enduring fountain of ethical and spiritual wisdom that serves as a radiant guide for all of humanity.
The version of authority from the state government was reflected in the actions of Minister TRB Rajaa, who commented on the significance of truly understanding Tamil culture beyond ceremonial praise.
