New Delhi, 13 January (H.S.): Passenger vehicle wholesale sales rose 27% year-on-year in December 2025, propelled by robust demand for utility vehicles. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) announced these figures in a statement on Tuesday, highlighting strong performance across segments as the industry enters the final quarter of FY2025-26.
Total passenger vehicle dispatches reached 3,99,216 units in December 2025, up 26.8% from 3,14,934 units in December 2024. Two-wheeler wholesale sales soared 39% to 15,41,036 units compared to 11,05,565 units the previous year, while three-wheeler sales climbed 17% to 61,924 units from 52,733 units.
SIAM noted that the automobile sector is entering Q4 FY2025-26 with strong momentum, following double-digit growth across all vehicle categories at the end of 2025. Steady increases in wholesale and retail volumes are anticipated throughout the quarter, supported by year-end sales pushes and favorable conditions.
The industry body remains vigilant on geopolitical developments but expects FY2025-26 to conclude with positive growth. Policy-backed factors are poised to sustain the robust performance observed in recent years, underpinned by stable macroeconomic fundamentals.
