


Ahmedabad, 12 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to Sabarmati Ashram on Monday during his two-day visit to India. The leaders paid floral tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, honoring his life and enduring ideals.The two leaders then proceeded to Sabarmati Riverfront, where they participated in the International Kite Festival 2026.
In a traditional display, Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merz flew kites, including ones shaped like Lord Hanuman and bearing the inscription Operation Sindoor, immersing themselves in the festive spirit.This visit by Chancellor Merz aims to strengthen India-Germany cooperation in trade, investment, defense, and critical technologies.
Bilateral talks scheduled during the tour are expected to address various aspects of the strategic partnership.
