
Chandrapur, 10 Jan (HS): Chandrapur Police suspects
that the high-profile kidney smuggling racket has connection in at least nine
states. Based on information collected by Chandrapur Police, Tamil Nadu
government’s Public Health Directorate has started enquiry through a high level
enquiry committee.
The enquiry committee visited Star Kims Hospital
recently. According to Chandrapur Police Dr Rajratnam Govindswai is absconding.
The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has granted him transit bail and allowed
to apply for the regular bail at Chandrapur. The Chandraur Police are waiting
for the copy of the court order for further action. The Special Investigating
Team (SIT) is also searching for a victim from Bengaluru and carrying out
enquiry into the death of a Bangladeshi national who died at a hospital in Tiruchirapalli
while removing a kidney.
The kingpin of the racket, Ramkrishna Sunchu called
as Dr Krishna has applied for bail in Chandrapur Sessions Court. Sunchu was
arrested from Solapur and is under police custody up to January 12. Another
accused in the racket, Dr Ravindrapal Singh from Delhi is absconding. His phone
is also not reachable.
