Amravati, 03 Sep (HS): Another man fell victim to a tiger attack in the Melghat region of Amravati district on Wednesday. The death was the sixth in the region in the last five months, posing serious doubts about the
steps to prevent the man-animal conflict.
A labourer from Tarubanda was attacked by a tiger in
Rajdeobaba Camp (Khogda). Growing tiger attacks led to fear among the
villagers, mostly dependent on forest produce for their livelihood. The
incident took place under the Melghat Tiger Project.
MLA from the region, Kewalram Kale immediately talked
to the Chief Conservator of Forests of the region and other officials. A rescue
team was immediately sent to the area. The villagers allege that despite
growing attacks by tigers, no adequate steps were taken by the Forest Department
to prevent them.
