New Delhi, August 28 (HS): Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan will undertake a day-long visit to Karnataka on Friday, August 29, to participate in a series of events spanning Mysuru and Bengaluru.
During his visit to Mysuru, the Minister will attend the 110th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji at the historic Suttur Math. He is also scheduled to take part in a plantation drive on the Math premises and interact with devotees.
In Bengaluru, Chouhan’s itinerary includes a review and interaction tour across multiple institutions of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). He will begin with the National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (NBAIR), where he will plant saplings, visit the National Insect Museum and Live Insect Repository, and review cutting-edge technologies in biological pest control.
The Minister will also visit the ICAR–National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics (ICAR–NIVEDI) to oversee its ongoing programs. There, he will engage with farmers, livestock owners, young agri-entrepreneurs, and scientists, while also addressing stakeholders about national animal health and disease control programmes. Special sessions are planned with progressive farmers who have successfully adopted ICAR–NIVEDI’s technologies and training for livestock development.
Later in the day, Chouhan will chair a high-level review meeting with directors of ICAR institutions based in Bengaluru to assess their achievements and challenges. Local MPs and MLAs are also expected to join the proceedings.
