New Delhi, Aug 22 (HS):
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday unveiled the revised schedule for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, with Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium replacing Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as one of the premier host venues. The stadium will now host three league matches, one semifinal, and potentially even the grand final.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah hailed Navi Mumbai as the true new home for women’s cricket in recent years, citing the overwhelming fan response during the Women’s Premier League and international fixtures. I am confident that the same energy will define the Women’s World Cup, returning to India after 12 years. This edition could mark one of the defining milestones in shaping the future of women’s cricket, not just in India but across the globe, Shah said.
He admitted the venue change had been necessitated by unforeseen circumstances but added: “We now have a set of five world-class venues that will showcase the best of the women’s game. The stage is ready, and I am sure this tournament will ignite imaginations and inspire a new generation of fans.”
