Kokrajhar, 22 August (HS): The Panchayat & Rural Development (P&RD) Department of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Friday organised a ceremonial distribution programme at the Bodofa Cultural Complex, Chandamari, Kokrajhar. Appointment letters were handed over to 420 newly appointed Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) Secretaries across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), while 26 official vehicles were distributed to Project Directors of DRDAs and Block Development Officers under BTC.
Gracing the event as Chief Guest, BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro stressed the importance of strengthening rural governance for inclusive development. He noted that the appointment of VCDC Secretaries has established a much-needed institutional framework to ensure effective implementation of rural development schemes.
Highlighting the joint efforts of the State and Central governments in empowering rural communities, Boro urged the appointees to serve people with sincerity, dedication, and empathy. “Be mentally prepared to help the people. Never say no to those who may not always be well informed. Do not turn them away, instead guide and assist them properly,” he said.
Earlier, P&RD Secretary Dhiraj Saud emphasized the need for strict adherence to rules and procedures, advising the appointees to discharge their duties responsibly.
The programme was attended by Deputy CEM Gobinda Chandra Basumatary; Executive Members Dhananjay Basumatary, Dr. Nilut Swargiary and Dr. Dharma Narayan Das; MCLA Madhav Chandra Chetry along with senior officials and dignitaries.
