Caribbean Thunderstorm: West Indies Crush Pakistan by Record 203 Runs

Tarouba, August 13(HS): The West Indies produced a dominant all-round display to dismantle Pakistan by a colossal 203-run margin in the third and final ODI at the Brian Lara Stadium — sealing the series 2-1 and clinching their first bilateral ODI series win over Pakistan since 1991.

Set a target of 295, Pakistan’s batting order imploded, folding for just 92 in 29.2 overs — their lowest total against the West Indies in decades. The victory margin was the Caribbean side’s biggest-ever in ODIs against Pakistan.

The hero of the night was 21-year-old pace sensation Jayden Seales, who unleashed a devastating spell of 6 for 18 in 7.2 overs — joint-second best bowling figures by a West Indies bowler in men’s ODI history. Seales ripped through Pakistan’s top order, removing Saim Ayub in his first over, trapping Abdullah Shafique for a duck, and bowling Mohammad Rizwan with a peach that kissed the off stump. His dismissal of Babar Azam LBW left Pakistan reeling at 23 for 4, a collapse they never recovered from.

Earlier, West Indies skipper Shai Hope had anchored the innings with a classy, unbeaten century under pressure. For the first 43 overs, runs were hard to come by, but Hope shifted gears spectacularly — smashing back-to-back sixes off Mohammad Nawaz in the 44th over. He and Justin Greaves (43*) lit up the closing stages, plundering 100 runs in the final seven overs to lift the total to 294 for 5. Hope finished on a sparkling 100* (94 balls, 10 fours, 5 sixes), earning Player of the Match honours.

Pakistan’s chase never took off. Only Salman Ali Agha (30) showed resistance, while Willows kept falling to disciplined seam and spin. Gudakesh Motie and Roston Chase choked the middle overs before Seales returned to finish the job in style.

Match Summary:

West Indies: 294/5 in 50 overs (Shai Hope 100*, Justin Greaves 43*)

Pakistan: 92 all out in 29.2 overs (Salman Ali Agha 30; Jayden Seales 6/18)

Result: West Indies won by 203 runs — series 2-1

This emphatic triumph not only ended a 34-year wait for an ODI series victory over Pakistan but also sent a resounding signal of the West Indies’ revival in the format — powered by pace, composure, and ruthless finishing.
