Bhubaneswar, 1 August (H.S.): Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development and Commerce & Transport Departments, Government of Odisha, reviewed the ongoing construction of the Model Bus Terminal in Jagatsinghpur during the second day of her official visit to the district. The terminal, being developed with an estimated investment of ₹16 crore, is aimed at significantly improving public transport infrastructure and enhancing the travel experience for thousands of daily commuters.
She was accompanied by J. Sonal, Collector and District Magistrate of Jagatsinghpur; Sambit Kumar Rout, Additional District Magistrate; Rabi Narayan Jethy, Project Director, DRDA; Archana Singh, Chairperson of Jagatsinghpur Municipality; along with other senior officials.
During the site inspection, Padhee assessed the project's infrastructure design and execution, emphasizing the importance of a robust Operation and Maintenance (O&M) framework to ensure long-term functionality. She recommended key additions such as, Commercial spaces within the terminal to promote local entrepreneurship,Installation of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations and Integration of solar power systems for sustainable energy use
The suggestions were well received by project officials, who assured timely implementation of the recommendations.
