New Delhi, July 2 (H.S.): Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted that the surge in income tax return filings—from 36 million in 2013-14 to 85 million in 2024-25—reflects India’s strengthening economy, marking a significant growth over the past decade.

He remarked that 95 percent of ITRs are processed within 30 days, showcasing the government's dedication to taxpayers and reflecting a shift toward transparency and integrity, thus empowering citizens through honest taxation.

Puri also attributed this change to the Modi government's welfare schemes, asserting that these initiatives have not only benefited people but have also increased the participation of ordinary citizens in the country’s economic engagement.
