Budaun,
22 July (HS): A 'panchmukhi shivling' was unearthed Tuesday morning while
excavating a pond in Sarai Piparia hamlet, Dataganj tehsil. A bulldozer
excavated the marble structure approximately six feet beneath the surface. Mahant
Parmatma Das Maharaj of Papad Brahmadev Mandir stated that the shivling was
around 300 years old. The five-faced shivling has attracted a large number of
visitors from nearby villages, prompting the local administration to send
police and revenue teams to the site.
Shipra
Pathak, an environmentalist connected with the Narmada Bachao Abhiyan, was
present throughout the excavation. She stated that the digging was done to
construct a lotus pond on her 13-acre property, where a plant nursery, Panch
Tatva Paudhshala, is also being developed.
Pathak,
who intends to donate five lakh plants annually through her charity,
characterized the appearance of the shivling as a heavenly sign. Miracles do
not require blind faith; true faith produces miracles on its own. She stated that now that Lord Mahadev has
shown himself, a great and divine temple will be built on the spot. According
to Dataganj Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dharmendra Kumar Singh, the archeological
department would be brought in to analyze the Shivling's historical importance
and age.
