Guwahati, 3 June (HS): The flood situation in Assam remains serious due to continuous rains. Brahmaputra (Nimatighat, Tezpur), Subansiri (Baraatighat), Buridihing, Dhansiri (Numaligarh), Kapili (Kampur, Dharamtul), Barak (Chhota Bekra, Fullertal, AP Ghat, BP Ghat), Rukni (Dholai), Dhaleswari (Gharmura), Katakhal (Matijuri) and Kushiyara (Sribhumi) rivers are flowing above the danger mark.
22 districts are affected by the floods. These include Lakhimpur, Nagon, Cachar, Dibrugarh, Majuli, Tinsukia, Shivsagar, Darang, Golaghat, Kamrup, Morigaon, Hojai, Hailakandi, Dhemaji, Jorhat, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Kamrup (M), Karbi Anglong, Karbi Anglong West, Dima Hasao and Sribhumi districts.
So far 1254 villages have been hit by floods. 5,15,039 people have been affected. 12,610.27 hectares of crops have been damaged. 65 revenue circles are affected.
165 relief camps and 157 relief distribution centers have been opened. 31,212 people are living in relief camps while 1,54,177 people are taking assistance from non-camp relief centers.
One male death has been confirmed in Hojai. One man each is missing from Hailakandi and Dibrugarh.
A total of 4,67,851 animals are affected — 1,56,253 large, 1,06,216 small and 2,05,382 poultry. 2 large animals in Golaghat and 92 (65 large, 27 small) animals in Lakhimpur were washed away.
84 kutcha houses in Lakhimpur are completely damaged and 43 partially damaged.
SDRF, Fire and Emergency Service, Inland Water Transport, local administration and people are involved in relief and rescue operations.
122 medical teams and 50 boats have been deployed. 711 people and 130 animals have been evacuated safely by boats.
