Chennai, 25 June (H.S.) : Actor Srikanth, who was arrested in a drug-related case, appeared before a Chennai court and admitted to consuming narcotic substances. The actor's counsel pleaded for bail, citing his son's health and other personal reasons. However, the prosecution opposed the bail plea, arguing that Srikanth's admission of drug use could impact the investigation.
The court, after hearing both sides, remanded the actor to custody till July 7. Srikanth's lawyer argued that his client was willing to cooperate with the investigation and would abide by any conditions set by the court. The actor's bail plea will be heard again on July 7, when the court will consider his petition.
Srikanth's arrest had sent shockwaves through the Tamil film industry, with many of his colleagues expressing surprise and concern over the news. The case is currently under investigation, and the authorities are working to gather more evidence and determine the extent of Srikanth's involvement in the alleged drug offense.
