Dehradun, June 14 (H.S.): The passing out parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) commenced this morning on the drill square in front of the Chatwood building, with Sri Lankan Chief of Army Staff General Lasantha Rodrigo taking the salute. A graduate of the IMA in 1990, he arrived on Friday. The IMA had announced the live broadcast of the event on its X handle. Today, 451 cadet officers, including 419 Indian and 32 foreign cadets, will officially join their respective armies. Since its establishment on October 1, 1932, over 65,000 cadets, including those from 34 friendly nations, have graduated from the IMA. Strict security measures are in place for the parade, with military personnel deployed throughout the academy and surrounding areas. Dehradun police are responsible for external security, and the region from Panditwadi to Premnagar is designated as a zero zone until noon. Earlier, the passing out parade of 401 Agniveers was held at the Army Air Defence Center in Gopalpur on June 5.
