Bhubaneswar Airport to Conduct Full-Scale Emergency Mock Drill on June 30

Bhubaneswar, 14 June (H.S.): The Biju Patnaik International Airport is scheduled to conduct a full-scale mock drill on June 30 to assess and enhance its emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

The exercise is being undertaken in line with directives issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which has mandated comprehensive emergency drills at all airports across the country following a recent Air India aircraft incident. The initiative aims to bolster airport readiness and ensure swift, coordinated responses during crisis situations.

The mock drill will simulate a real-time aircraft emergency scenario, engaging all major stakeholders including Civil Aviation officials, local police, fire and rescue services, medical teams, and other support agencies. The goal is to test the airport’s crisis management framework, inter-agency coordination, and on-ground communication effectiveness under simulated emergency conditions.

“This drill is a proactive measure to ensure that all concerned agencies are well-prepared to handle any real-life incident with efficiency and minimal disruption,” airport authorities stated.
