Kathua, 14 June (H.S.): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has taken action against a police investigating officer posted at Kathua Police Station for allegedly demanding a bribe. The accused police head constable allegedly asked for ₹15,000 in exchange for removing a complainant’s name from an FIR.
According to sources, the complainant informed the ACB that the police officer was demanding money to exclude his name from a case. After verifying the complaint, the ACB laid a trap to catch the officer red-handed. However, the accused allegedly threw the bribe money and fled the spot before he could be apprehended.
The accused has been identified as Head Constable Roshan Din, currently posted at Kathua Police Station. ACB teams are actively searching for the absconding officer, and a thorough investigation into the case is underway.
Late into the night, ACB officials were seen conducting a search operation at Roshan Din’s residence. The incident has once again raised serious questions about corruption within the police department.
