01 June (HS): According to authorities on Sunday, a gang of males allegedly
used sticks and rods to beat a Dalit family who were having a wedding ceremony in
a venue in Rasra, Uttar Pradesh. Police reported that two people were gravely
hurt in the Friday event.
According
to the FIR filed in the case, the attackers allegedly asked, How can you
hold a wedding in a hall when you're from a Dalit community? In this
regard, no arrests have been made thus far. A gang of about 20 people, armed
with sticks and rods, invaded Swayamvar Marriage Hall at around 10.30 p.m. and
attacked individuals having a wedding there, according to the FIR, which was
based on a complaint made by Raghvendra Gautam, one of the victim's brothers.

Sahni, Deepak Sahni, Rahul, and Akhilesh led the group, he claimed. According to the complainant, there were
15–20 additional unnamed residents of the Mallah Toli neighborhood. The accused
allegedly launched a assault after allegedly using caste-based
epithets and protesting that the wedding was being hosted in a marriage hall,
according to the FIR. Ajay Kumar and Manan Kant, two of Gautam's relatives,
were gravely hurt in the assault. A case has been filed under the pertinent BNS
sections and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of
Atrocities) Act provisions in response to the complaint. According
to Vipin Singh, the in-charge of the Rasra Police Station, an inquiry is in
progress.
