New Delhi, June 1(HS): In May this year, GST collection increased by 16.40 percent year-on-year, exceeding ₹2.01 lakh crore. However, there was a decline in GST collection on a monthly basis compared to April. In April, the GST collection in the country had reached its highest level of ₹2.37 lakh crore.According to data released by the government on the GST portal, the total GST collection in May of last year was ₹1,72,739 crore, which increased to over ₹2.01 lakh crore this year at a growth rate of 16.40 percent. This includes a revenue of approximately ₹1.50 lakh crore from domestic transactions, which shows an increase of 13.70 percent. Similarly, GST collection from imports also reached ₹51,266 crore, marking an increase of 25.20 percent.

According to the information provided on the GST portal, the total central GST revenue in May was ₹35,434 crore. Similarly, the state GST revenue collection amounted to ₹43,902 crore. In addition, the integrated GST collection was ₹1.09 lakh crore, while the revenue collection from the surcharge was ₹12,879 crore.According to the information provided by the government, states such as West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu recorded a GST collection increase ranging from 17 to 25 percent. On the other hand, states like Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan saw an average increase of 10 percent in GST collection. Additionally, states like Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Telangana recorded a 6 percent increase in GST collection.
