New Delhi, May 9 (HS): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to postpone the ongoing Tata IPL 2025 for one week with immediate effect. This decision has been made considering the recent circumstances and the concerns of all stakeholders, including players, broadcasters, and sponsors. The board has clarified that a new schedule and venues will only be announced after a comprehensive review of the situation.

Respect given to the concerns of players and franchises

The IPL Governing Council took this decision after consulting with all major stakeholders. Most franchises had conveyed their players' sentiments and safety concerns to the BCCI. Additionally, the feelings of broadcasters, sponsors, and fans were also given importance.

BCCI stands with the country

On this occasion, the BCCI has expressed its commitment to the country and stated that it stands firmly with the Government of India, the armed forces, and its citizens. The board has saluted the valor, courage, and spirit of service of the Indian Army personnel involved in Operation Sindoor. The efforts of the army in response to the recent terrorist attacks and military actions by Pakistan have been described as inspirational.

The BCCI stated that although cricket is the passion of the country, nothing is more important than the nation’s sovereignty, unity, and security. The board has assured that it will always stand with the government and the nation in any decision related to the security of India.

The BCCI has expressed gratitude to the league's official broadcaster Jio Star, title sponsor Tata, and all other partner organizations for prioritizing national interest with understanding and support during this difficult time.
