New Delhi, May 9 (H.S.): The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has initiated 500 online Atal Faculty Development Programs (FDP) for the fiscal year 2025-26, inaugurated by AICTE Chairman Prof. T.G. Sitaram in New Delhi, alongside Vice Chairman Dr. Abhay Jere and Member Secretary Prof. Rajiv Kumar.
Previously, 500 offline FDPs were also launched. Prof. Sitaram underscored the crucial role of FDPs in delivering high-quality training to faculty, postgraduate students, and researchers, emphasizing the importance of knowledge and skill acquisition for practical applications in collaboration with industries. This initiative signifies AICTE's dedication to elevating the quality of technical education in India and encouraging sustainable professional growth.
Dr. Abhay Jere proposed creating a web repository of expert lectures from these programs to extend their benefit to a wider audience. The online FDP aims to foster a culture of sustainable professional development, with each of the proposed 500 programs serving as a six-day online course spanning emerging fields such as advanced materials, semiconductors, space and defense, and the blue economy.
Eligible higher education institutions can apply for grants of one lakh rupees per FDP on a reimbursement basis, with the application portal opening on May 10, 2025, and closing on June 1, 2025. The FDP encompasses 17 emerging areas, including AI, cyber-physical systems, and healthcare.
