Jerusalem, May 22 (HS): Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed an important press conference on Wednesday night, stating that Israel has achieved a lot so far in its “clear and just goal” against Hamas, but the “work is not yet done.”

Netanyahu revealed that the Israeli army has killed Hamas's top leaders Yahya Sinwar and his brother Mohammad Sinwar. Sinwar is considered the main mastermind behind the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Prime Minister Netanyahu mentioned that Israel has struck a severe blow to the enemy in the southern part of Gaza and has continued the war despite heavy international pressure. He disclosed that under Operation Gideon, Israel has launched the next phase of the war. According to him, “At the end of this campaign, the entire area of the Gaza Strip will be under Israel's security control.”

Netanyahu referred to Iran as “still a major threat to Israel,” stating that his government is in full coordination with the United States to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He clearly stated, “If necessary, Israel will defend itself.”

During the press conference, Netanyahu announced a new three-step humanitarian aid plan for Gaza, which will be implemented with the cooperation of the United States. This plan includes the supply of essential food items; distribution centers established by American companies, which will be secured by Israeli forces; and the establishment of a ‘sterile zone’ in southern Gaza where civilians will receive complete humanitarian assistance. He stated, “Our closest friends are also ready to send weapons, but cannot tolerate the humanitarian crisis.”

Netanyahu stated that Israel is ready to end the war, but only when Israel’s security is assured, hostages are returned, and Hamas leadership leaves Gaza. He also mentioned that Gaza should be “completely disarmed” and that Israel will take maximum advantage of the “Trump plan.” Under this plan, those Gaza residents who wish to leave will be permitted to do so.

At the end of the press conference, Netanyahu reiterated his commitment, stating, “Those who are demanding that we stop the war are actually advocating for the continuation of Hamas in Gaza. We will not allow that to happen.”
