New Delhi, May 21 (HS): India has officially taken on the Chairmanship of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) for the 2025–26 term at the 67th Session of the Governing Body Meeting (GBM) in Jakarta, Indonesia, held from May 20 to 22, 2025. The Indian delegation is led by Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, IAS, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), and APO Director for India. As the Chair, India reaffirmed its commitment to the APO Vision 2030 and expanding the Green Productivity 2.0 framework, highlighting the significance of regional collaboration in digital transformation, sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

India aims to contribute to inclusive, responsive, and effective APO programs addressing productivity challenges in the Asia-Pacific. Annually, over 100 Indian professionals actively engage in APO capacity-building initiatives through the National Productivity Council (NPC) under DPIIT, significantly advancing productivity in various sectors. The APO, established in 1961 and based in Tokyo, fosters productivity enhancement among its 21 member economies through cooperation. The 67th GBM is hosted by the Government of Indonesia, and the Governing Body serves as the organization's highest decision-making authority.
