Dhaka, May 16 (HS): Students at Jagannath University in Dhaka are expressing dissatisfaction with the interim government, leading to ongoing protests at the Kakrail intersection for three days. They have set forth four key demands, with the main one being a request for an annual budget of 3.06 billion Taka for the university. After Friday prayers, they intend to initiate a collective hunger strike if their demands remain unmet. Their movement is gaining traction with support from faculty members and notable alumni. Protesters, including a student named Helaluddin, have criticized the government's lack of response and pointed to the police action against them, reaffirming their commitment to remain on the streets until their voices are heard.

Teacher Mohammad Belal uddin emphasized the necessity of the requested budget, suggesting that it would benefit both the university and the country. He also mentioned a scholarship request of 3,000 Taka per student, indicating the positive impact such assistance could have on families, especially those from rural areas working hard to support their children's education.
