Delhi, 16 May (H.S.): A day after engaging with security personnel in Srinagar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit the Bhuj airbase in Gujarat on Friday and is also expected to tour the India-Pakistan border area. In a post on X, Singh expressed eagerness to interact with the Air Warriors at Bhuj Air Force Station and mentioned his plan to visit Smritivan, a memorial for victims of the 2001 earthquake as envisioned by PM Narendra Modi.

During his Gujarat visit, Singh will review operational preparedness in light of recent military conflicts with Pakistan, especially since Gujarat's 508-kilometre border was targeted by Pakistani drones during the recent skirmish, which resulted in counter-efforts by Indian forces.

In his previous visit to Jammu and Kashmir, a region significantly impacted by the conflict, Singh raised concerns about the safety of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal and called for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to oversee it due to Pakistan's reckless threats. He noted that terrorists had attacked tourists in Pahalgam based on their religion, contrasting this with the Indian forces' actions against terrorists based on their deeds. This trip marked Singh's first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since Operation Sindoor, during which he assessed the security situation along the Line of Control and the International Border and interacted with military personnel.
