New Delhi, April 6 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that in the past decade, the central government has allocated three times more funds for the development of Tamil Nadu compared to 2014. He believes that Tamil Nadu plays a significant role in the journey towards a developed India. The more Tamil Nadu's potential grows, the faster India's development will be.
Targeting the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, he stated that despite this, some people have a habit of crying without reason. They keep crying.
The Prime Minister expressed surprise that letters received from leaders in Tamil Nadu are not signed in Tamil. He mentioned that before 2014, only ₹900 crore was allocated annually for rail projects. This year, the railway budget for Tamil Nadu is over ₹6,000 crore, and the Indian government is modernizing 77 railway stations here, including the Rameswaram railway station. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, over 1 crore people in Tamil Nadu have received treatment, resulting in savings of ₹8,000 crore for the people.
There are more than 1,400 Jan Aushadhi Kendras in Tamil Nadu, saving the people an estimated ₹700 crore. In recent years, 11 new medical colleges have been established in Tamil Nadu.
Prime Minister Modi is currently on a visit to Tamil Nadu. On the occasion of Ram Navami, in the afternoon he inaugurated India's first vertical lift sea bridge - the new Pamban rail bridge. He flagged off a train and a ship from the road bridge and observed the operation of the bridge. After that, he visited and worshipped at the Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram. He laid the foundation stone for various railway and road projects costing over ₹8,300 crore in Rameswaram and dedicated them to the nation. On this occasion, he also addressed a public gathering.
The Prime Minister stated that the safety and well-being of fishermen is the government's utmost priority. Due to the dedicated efforts of the Government of India, more than 3,700 fishermen have been successfully brought back from Sri Lanka in the past decade. Over 600 fishermen were released just in the last year. Some fishermen were sentenced to death, but we took decisive steps to ensure their safe return to the country.
During this time, the Prime Minister mentioned the country's all-around development and said that major projects are being worked on very rapidly across the country today. In the past 10 years, we have increased the budget for infrastructure such as railways, roads, airports, water, ports, electricity, and gas pipelines by almost six times. He mentioned mega projects in the north, east, west, and south. He stated that one of the world’s highest railway bridges, the 'Chenab Bridge', has been constructed in Jammu and Kashmir. The country's longest sea bridge, 'Atal Setu', has been built in Mumbai. The 'Bogibeel Bridge' in Assam and the 'Pamban Bridge', which is one of the few vertical lift bridges in the world, have also been completed.
On the occasion of the foundation day of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he praised the hard work of the party workers from the stage. He said that the goal we are striving for—a strong, prosperous, and developed India—has been made possible through the hard work of every BJP worker.
