Bengaluru, April 3 (HS): In the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Gujarat Titans defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 8 wickets at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Jos Buttler played an unbeaten innings of 73 runs to lead Gujarat to victory.
Chasing a target of 170 runs set by RCB, Gujarat Titans started their innings cautiously. The team suffered their first loss when captain Shubman Gill was dismissed for 14 runs. After that, Sai Sudharsan partnered with Jos Buttler to accelerate the innings, and the two put together a partnership of 75 runs for the second wicket. However, Sudharsan fell short of his half-century and was dismissed for 49 runs. Sherfane Rutherford then joined Buttler and helped secure the victory for the team. Rutherford scored 30 runs, while Jos Buttler remained unbeaten on 73 runs.
For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood each took one wicket.
Earlier, after losing the toss and opting to bat, Gujarat Titans did not have a good start. Virat Kohli (7 runs) and Devdutt Padikkal (4 runs) were dismissed early. By the time the powerplay ended, Phil Salt (14 runs) and captain Rajat Patidar (12 runs) also returned to the pavilion. Liam Livingstone (54 runs) and Jitesh Sharma (33 runs) steadied the innings and worked to bring the score to a respectable level. In the end, Tim David played a quick innings of 32 runs off 18 balls, helping RCB reach a score of 169.
For Gujarat, Mohammed Siraj took three wickets, and Sai Kishore took two. Arshad Khan, Prasidh Krishna, and Ishant Sharma each claimed one wicket.
