Bhubaneswar, 3 April (H.S.)– Notorious criminal Sushant Nayak was injured during an encounter with the Angul and Talcher police in a forested area near Scotlandpur village in Talcher in the early hours of today.

Nayak sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg during the operation. A special squad from the Angul and Talcher police had been tracking Nayak, and the encounter took place when he attempted to flee after firing at the officers inside the forest.

The injured criminal was promptly transported to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment. Nayak is wanted in several criminal cases registered against him in Talcher.
