Srinagar, 3 April (H.S.): : Jammu and Kashmir is expected to experience isolated light rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 knots in next 24 hours.
According to the Meteorological Department, thunder with gusty winds is expected at few places towards late afternoon on Thursday
Over the coming days Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience varying weather conditions, with light rain and snow expected in higher reaches.
MeT said Kashmir valley will witness generally cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain and snow in the upper reaches particularly North Kashmir and the Sonamarg-Zojila axis on Thursday.
The weather is expected to remain generally dry from April 4 to 7. However, on April 8, cloudy conditions are likely to return in the afternoon, bringing chances of light snow over higher reaches of North Kashmir and Sonamarg .
From April 9 to 10, many places in Kashmir and scattered areas in Jammu Division are likely to receive light rain or snow in the higher reaches.
On April 11, the Kashmir will see generally cloudy skies with isolated light rain or snow in the morning, followed by a gradual improvement in weather conditions.
Meanwhile, MeT said that day temperatures have been 4-5°C above normal in most parts of Kashmir Division and 2-3°C above normal in Jammu Division.
The night temperatures were 0-1°C below normal in Kashmir Division and 0-2°C below normal in Jammu Division.
The lowest night temperatures were recorded at the ski resort of Gulmarg 1.0°C in Kashmir and Banihal 6.1°C in Jammu Division.
