Kaushambi,
03 April (HS): During deliberations in the Rajya Sabha on the Waqf (Amendment)
Bill, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya claimed on
Thursday that the Waqf Board has become a personal estate for some individuals.
On Thursday, the Lok Sabha passed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which was then
tabled in the Rajya Sabha. Speaking to reporters after performing Navratri
prayers at the Sheetla Mata temple in his hometown of Kaushambi, Maurya stated
that the Waqf Board has become a personal estate for some people. He said that
there were widespread irregularities and corruption in Waqf Board land
operations.
Under
the new law, a plot of land will be recognized as Waqf property only after
adequate verification. The district
collector will be in charge of the Waqf Board lands investigation, he
said.
Maurya
accused individuals opposed to the measure of indulging in vote-bank politics,
saying, This law is opposed by those who engage in Muslim appeasement,
while others who demand transparency favor it.
This legislation aids 90% of impoverished Muslims.”
Maurya
targeted the Congress, claiming that the party had opposed Article 370 repeal,
Ram Temple building, and the triple talaq law. By implementing Article 370 in
Jammu and Kashmir, Congress has chained Mother India. The Ram Temple should have been constructed
at the same period as the Somnath Temple. He praised the Modi administration
for repealing Article 370, aiding the construction of the Ram Temple, and
enacting the triple talaq bill in behalf of Muslim women.
