Raigarh, 28 April (H.S.): On Sunday, two Pakistani nationals, Iftikhar Sheikh (29) and Arnish Sheikh (25), were arrested in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh for allegedly acquiring voter ID cards and Indian documents using false information. The duo, originally from Karachi and holders of valid Pakistani passports and Long Term Visas, were residing in Kodatarai village.
A police investigation, prompted by a crackdown on illegal foreigners, revealed that they obtained these documents fraudulently while staying with a local individual named Yakub Sheikh. They were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for false declarations, cheating, and forgery.
This enforcement action coincided with the expiration of the exit deadline for short-term visa holders from Pakistan. The Indian government has implemented measures, including the cancellation of visas for Pakistani nationals, following a recent terror attack in Kashmir. Further investigation is ongoing.
