Mumbai, 24 Apr (HS): Five books authored by
renowned Marathi litterateur Madhu Mangesh Karnik will be published by Konkan
Marathi Sahitya Parishad on April 25. The event to mark Karnik’s 95th
birthday is being held at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Mumbai, at 5.30 pm on April 25
under the chairmanship of the Chief of the Saraswat Bank Gautam Thakur. Ex-MP
Ramsheth Thakur will be the special guest, Marathi Language Minister Uday
Samant and Culture Minister Ashish Shelar will be the guests of honour.
Established by Karnik three decades ago, Konkan
Marathi Sahitya Parishad is working for promotion and preservation of Marathi
literature and culture. The movement for getting Marathi the status of
Classical Language was guided by Karnik. The books to be released on the day
are ‘Smrutijagar’, ‘Goodh-Nigoodh’, ‘Swayambhu’, ‘Raja Thiba’, and ‘Udhaan’. A
cultural programme based on Karnik’s poems will be presented by Kaushal
Inamdar.
