Chennai, 24 April (H.S.): The Madras High Court has directed a special court to frame charges against former Tamil Nadu Minister Duraimurugan in a disproportionate wealth case. The court's decision comes after a lengthy investigation and trial process.
The case alleges that Duraimurugan accumulated wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income during his tenure as a public servant. The investigation into the matter was conducted by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC).
The Madras High Court's directive to the special court to frame charges against Duraimurugan marks a significant development in the case. The special court will now proceed with framing charges against the former minister, who will have to defend himself against the allegations.
The case has been ongoing for several years, with Duraimurugan facing allegations of corruption and accumulation of disproportionate wealth. The court's decision is seen as a major step towards bringing the case to trial and determining the former minister's culpability.
Duraimurugan's lawyers will have the opportunity to argue their client's innocence, while the prosecution will present evidence to support the allegations. The outcome of the case will depend on the evidence presented and the special court's verdict.
