-BTC chief lays foundation stone for development of NH-117A

Kokrajhar (Assam), 24 April (HS): Giving a major boost to the road infrastructure in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), BTC chief Pramod Bodo today laid the foundation stone for the improvement and development of a significant section of NH-117A from Kokrajhar to Karigaon. The project will cover a total length of 15.247 km from Kokrajhar (km 24.500) to Karigaon (km 38.947). It includes construction of paved and new road surface under the Annual Plan 2023–24, which will be executed by Abhayapuri Construction Division. Reiterating the commitment to strengthen road infrastructure and connectivity in the BTR region, BTC Chief Pramod Bodo said that the significant allocation made for infrastructure in the Vibrant BTR 2.0 Budget presented in the BTC Vidhan Sabha (BTCLA) today will accelerate the pace of road development across the region. Several dignitaries including MP Jayanta Basumatary, Kokrajhar East (ST) Assembly Constituency MLA Lawrence Islari and senior PWD officials were present at the foundation stone laying ceremony. The project is considered to be a significant step towards improving regional connectivity, enhancing road safety and aiding economic development by making passenger and goods transport more reliable and efficient.
