Delhi, 22 April (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Saudi Arabia today on April 22, including a visit to a factory in Jeddah where he will engage with Indian workers.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri shared that Saudi Arabia is home to the second-largest Indian expatriate community globally, with around 2.7 million Indians contributing significantly to the kingdom's economy and social life. This visit underscores Modi's commitment to the welfare of Indian workers abroad, echoing his earlier interactions with Indian expatriates during his Kuwait visit.
The Indian government has introduced several technology-driven initiatives, such as the E-Migrate and MADAD portals, along with the upgraded Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana, to support these workers. At the recently held 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Modi reaffirmed his view of the Indian diaspora as India's ambassadors, expressing gratitude for their support. During his visit to Kuwait, Prime Minister Modi engaged with Indian workers, inquiring about their welfare.
