Sanaa, April 21 (H.S.) : The United States has carried out a major airstrike on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa’s Attan. The Iran-backed Houthi rebel group’s Al-Masirah satellite news channel has released footage of the attack. The group claimed that at least 12 people were killed and 30 others injured in the U.S. strike.
According to a report by the Microsoft Network web portal, the U.S. targeted Iran-backed rebels in its latest attack. However, the U.S. military's Central Command declined to answer questions regarding the attack or to discuss civilian casualties in its operation.
According to the Houthi rebel group, the attack occurred in the Farwa neighborhood market of the Shoub district in Sana. This area has been targeted by the U.S. military before. Footage broadcasted by Al-Masirah shows damage to vehicles and buildings in the area, along with people screaming while holding a deceased child. Others were seen crying on stretchers while being taken to the hospital. The group stated that attacks were carried out in several areas of the country throughout the night into the morning, including the governorates of Amran, Hodeidah, Ma'rib, and Sa'dah.
The latest attacks occurred following U.S. airstrikes at the Ras Isa port last week, which resulted in at least 74 fatalities and 171 injuries. U.S. President Donald Trump announced last month the launch of a new military campaign against Houthi rebels. These attacks have taken place after the resumption of talks between the U.S. and Iran in Rome regarding Tehran's rapidly advancing nuclear program. The U.S. has stated that it will continue to target the Houthis until they cease their attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.
