Nagpur, 21 Apr
(HS): Hamid Engineer, one of the accused in the March 17 Nagpur riots, has been
granted bail by the Sessions Court on Monday. The bail has been granted on a
bond worth Rs 50.000. Engineer is likely to be released from jail on Tuesday,
after the jail authorities receive the court orders. Engineer is said to be a
mentor of the mastermind of the riots, Faheem Khan.
The bail
application of Faheem Khan will be heard on Wednesday.
The riots, which
started on the demand of demolition of the Moghul Ruler Aurangazeb’s tomb,
turned violent. The messages related to the riots spread in many areas from the Mahal area, where it started. Police arrested Faheem Khan as the mastermind of the
pre-planned riots. Later, his mentor Hamid Engineer was also arrested.
