North 24 Parganas, 2 April (H.S.): A Trinamool worker was allegedly shot dead by criminals in front of the Trinamool Congress office in Belgharia in North 24 Parganas district on Tuesday night. Tension spread in the area on Wednesday morning over the incident. The police have sent the dead body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation into the matter.

On Wednesday morning, locals saw a young man lying on the road in front of the Trinamool office in Belgharia. On closer inspection, it was found that the young man lying on the road was Trinamool worker Rehan Khan. The police was immediately informed. The police and locals took the youth to Sagar Dutt Medical College. There the doctors declared him dead.

According to local sources, the youth was sitting in front of the party office in Belgharia on Tuesday night. Allegedly at that time a group of miscreants opened fire on him. A bullet hit Rehan's neck. He fell on the road. Rehan remained lying there all night. The police said that the body has been sent for post-mortem. The accused will be arrested soon.
